The Gatherings Tell A Friend About Us The Fall Gathering is held at the Lodge in Eagle's Mere, PA, over Halloween / Samhain. This is a beautiful area in the mountains, and a great time to go because of all the leaves turning -- it's so beautiful to be there. People have a great time. Fun, Food and Friendship Some of the highlights of the Gathering are activities such as the scavenger hunt, masquerade ball, and ghost hunting in the local cemetery. Mairi offers some really great prizes for the winner of the scavenger hunt; in 2004, for instance, the winner got first pick and chose a vicious looking vampire bat collector's knife; in 2003, a set of Dracula shot glasses was among the prizes. For the masquerade ball, we dress up in our finest costumery, take a night walk around the town or lake, and come back to the Lodge for music, dancing and celebration of Halloween / Samhain. At some point, a group will get together and go out to one of the local cemeteries to contact and commune with the spirits there, or just check out some of the old gravestones. Some people take along ghost hunting equipment in order to take readings and get EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena) on tape. As for the food at the Gatherings, the chefs go all-out to prepare a marvelous meal for us all, each day, and there is a decent variety of snacks as well as alcoholic beverages to choose from. There will be someone there, who, while not acting in the capacity as an Official Bartender, will have bartending experience and will be happy to suggest or mix a drink for someone. This is a time to finally meet others you've talked to and gotten to know online. Existing friendships are strengthened and new ones are forged. And when the time comes to go home, everybody hates to leave, but there will be a next time. And we will return once again to the place many consider their home away from home. It was also one of the prizes given away. I didn't win it, darn... Our gracious hostess, all dressed up for the costume party.
