Neighborhood Streetside Trash CleanupThe first official ShadowLore of Kansas activity, held on Thursday, 20 February, 2003, in Topeka, Kansas, was a success. We had 100% local member turnout (me), and our (okay, my) target area was the apartment parking lot and the surrounding block. My original target area had also included the stretch of road between the filling station and the grocery store, but upon commencing the actual trash removal operation, it was determined that this extensive of an area was not feasable to complete at one time. A total of two kitchen-sized trash sacks of garbage were removed from the apartment property, parking lot and surrounding block. (The property and parking lot alone gave up one sack of trash!) My back was hurting pretty bad by then, and I was worn out (hey, there was a lot of trash!), but I managed to finish out the block before quitting for the day. It's party time! After the minor neighborhood beautification project (phase one) was finished, all local members (me) retired to my place for the celebration of a job well done involving drinks, steak, and relaxation. It was unanimously decided over rum 'n' coke that we must do this again sometime soon. Meet 'N' GreetsBeginning to hold offline meet'n'greets around town (Topeka), and thinking about making arrangements to hold them in other cities as well, such as Kansas City or Wichita for those who can't make it all the way to Topeka (if I can get someone in those areas to help out). So far, I've scheduled a few at a great coffee house called Lola's Cafe Espresso (formerly PT's Cafe Espresso). To see what's coming up, check the Vampiric Community Calendar.
